One Month to Go: Get Ready for 916 Day!

We’re just one month away from the annual 916 Day event series, hosted by the Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment (YPCE) and the Parks Community Enrichment Commission (PCEC). This year, we’re celebrating our city parks, the heart of our 916 Community, with a variety of volunteer events across Sacramento’s districts.


Join Us for a Day of Service and Fun!


Event Schedule:


District 1: North Natomas Community Park

  • Date: September 13, 2024 | Time: 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Activities: Shrub planting, trash cleanup, weed pulling, playground maintenance.

District 2: Johnston Park

  • Date: September 7, 2024 | Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Activities: Bleacher reassembly, sodding, painting projects, shrub planting.

District 3: Bannon Creek Parkway

  • Date: September 14, 2024 | Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Activities: Park beautification, bridge revitalization, park cleanup.

District 4: Matsui Park

  • Date: September 14, 2024 | Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Activities: Hill planting, tree planter preparation, path cleanup, potential mural painting (pending approval).

District 5: James McClatchy Park

  • Date: September 15, 2024 | Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Activities: Pathway improvement, park cleanup, free plant giveaways.

District 6: Bill Bean Jr. Memorial Park

  • Date: September 15, 2024 | Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Activities: Garden beautification, park cleanup, volleyball net installation, fitness restoration.

District 8: North Laguna Creek

  • Date: September 16, 2024 | Time: 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Activities: Painting projects, trash cleanup, furniture installation, shrub planting, volleyball court setup.
